MISSION

Job Summary

Provides total logistics support to the manufacturing operation and to ensure that the manufacturing operation has sufficient components /raw material necessary to meet the build schedule and achieve targets set forth in the supply chain scorecard.  Responsible for the use of Lean Manufacturing concepts including Kanban and Heijunka as well as continually improve the shop floor systems to pace the flow, escalate issues, and drive out waste. Unusual work hours and travel may be required.

Reporting Relationship:   

This position reports directly to the Materials Manager.

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

Essential Functions

  1. Manage component and resin procurements / communications to support Master Production Schedule
  2. Create supplier forecast and oversee all related part set up and planning parameters in ERP system (Mfg-pro)
  3. Support supplier EDI processes
  4. Optimize component inventory planning levels through use of SAP and various other tools
  5. Support inbound freight cost using and optimization of delivery frequencies
  6. Ensure on-time delivery of ordered items and escalation of delivery issues to support supplier delivery requirements
  7. Manage part change process to reduce / eliminate obsolescence exposure and protect SOP requirements
  8. Issue SNCR’s (Supplier Non-conforming Reports) to suppliers for delivery / logistic related issues
  9. Must comply with all work rules, policies and procedures If primary contact ensures capacity analysis, logistics information, customer score cards and customer portals.
  10. If primary contact for FCA program, may be trained FCA related computer applications as listed in FCA US LLC Customer-Specific Requirements for IATF 16949:2016. FCA computer applications may not be all inclusive, additional applications may be revised.
  11. If primary contact for Ford program, may be trained in Ford system courses; Covisint (Ford Supplier Portal)  Covisint (Ford Supplier) applications may not be all inclusive, additional applications may be revised.

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Support and develop component storage strategies to optimize material flow including new program launches
  2. Participate in system accuracy and cycle count compliance processes to ensure inventory accuracy
  3. Must have intermediate to advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office and SAP
  4. Must successfully complete all required training

 

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  2. Strong interpersonal skills along with a high level of strategic leadership abilities
  3. Strong analytical and advanced problem solving skills using structured methods
  4. Must comply with all work rules, policies and procedures
  5. Must comply with all safety rules and regulations
  6. Able to lift up to 75 lbs on a regular basis
  7. Must successfully complete all required training

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor degree preferred
  2. Two years experience in manufacturing environment with supplier management skills
  3. Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of ERP systems (Mfgpro experience is a plus)
  4. Some hands on experience or knowledge of Lean Shop Floor systems
  5. APICS certification and experience with OEM systems is a plus
