Plant Engineer

Missions:

  • Responsible for developing manufacturing process (not excluding injection, paint, assembly, bonding) and process flow methods.
  • Develop new and existing equipment
  • Deployment of POMS methodology and best practice
  • Provides engineering support to the manufacturing teams and to the OPTIPRO project team for the launch of the new equipment in the plant and the realization of the manufacturing readiness
  • Engages in the handover from OPTIPRO to series
  • Provides engineering support to the manufacturing teams to improve and optimize plant processes
  • Provides Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering input to the OPTICHANGE process for series engineering change management.

 

Activities:

For new projects:

  • Manage capacity analysis with Sales, SPM and plant Logistics Team and anticipate need for equipment modification and capacity adjustments
  • Work with the industrial project team (Injection leader or paint leader) and in relation to equipment supplier managing day to day equipment installation follow up
  • Investigate project feasibility
  • Support MIFA (material and information flow analysis) and verify all material and information flow gaps (target MIFD). Support building target MIFD.  Accept MIFD from projects/programs.
  • Develop layout proposal with projects/programs
  • Accept FMEA from projects/programs and update
  • Ensure equipment meets technical and performance specifications and EXCEEDS existing equipment performance.
  • Participate in the safety and environmental risk assessments linked to the implementation of new installations, including the impact on human resources
  • Organize and coordinate new equipment and processes trials in the plant
  • Participate in commissioning activities, provisional, buy offs and final acceptance
  • Validate injection, paint, assembly, bonding and process flow operating standards and procedures in accordance with POMS and process Golden Rules
  • In cooperation with industrial teams, participate in new manufacturing production means, specifications and reception in the plant.  Participate in reception of manufacturing means/equipment/process
  • Ensure new equipment documentation is available from MPM.
  • Accept workstation instructions (WI) in cooperation with manufacturing teams from projects/programs.
  • Give production team assistance and training with respect to new and updated equipment 
  • Participate in Lessons Learned, share all experience with structured feedback to project and program team

 

For existing processes provided:

  • Verify capacity (with SCOOP) and anticipate need for equipment modification and capacity adjustments based on Sales requests and adjustments as requested included, but not limited to, Strategic Plan.
  • Conduct MIFA and maintain MIFD
  • Maintain series Process Flow, PFMEA and Work Instructions in collaboration with assembly teams.  Improve existing/series WI with process coaches and Industrial Engineer/ CI team.  
  • Maintain layout. Drive layout improvements based on MIFA/MIFD.
  • Participate in action plans to restore regular process and follow daily follow up
  • Give production team assistance and training
  • Analyze process failures through root cause analysis. Propose and implement technical solutions with timing using available tools (example: POMS, FMEA, MIFA, A3, OPTICHANGE)
  • Maintain PDCA / action plan with daily follow up. Escalate risks to meet deadlines. Maintain timing to support site improvement activity
  • Propose, test and validate technical solutions to improve manufacturing performance (productivity, quality, safety, availability, safety, risk )

Participate in Lessons Learned, share all experience with structured feedback to métiers and project team members

 

Competencies requirements:

 

  • Dedication to Safety
  • Engineering- Manufacturing / Industrial Engineering degree preferred
  • Good capability in spoken and written English
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes. Plastic Injection and Automated Paint applications a plus. Experience with, or knowledge of large capital equipment investment and process flow.
  • Team player, autonomous in approach to projects, systematic and disciplined approach to activities.
