MISSION

 

 

The Modelling & Simulation Engineer is responsible for conducting numerical simulations for various projects under development and in production, developing new analysis techniques for solving development and production issues, and assisting in strategic decisions regarding hardware, software and analysis techniques. Work is performed in a fast paced environment within tight time constraints.

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

  1. Support product development and industrial teams by conducting numerical simulations:
  • Identify, coordinate and build finite element models as required.
  • Request the required input data (test conditions, material properties, design data, manufacturing tools and methods).
  • Determine the required steps, models and iterations necessary to fully analyze the problem.
  • Identify the required timing necessary to complete the study.
  • Formalize results into reports for internal and/or external customers.
  • Present simulation predictions and design recommendations to internal and/or external customers.
  1. Participate in the continuous improvement of simulations:
  • Validate results.
  • Identify best practices and methods for each type of analysis.
  • Define and develop simulation tools.
  • Participate on global simulation team and make recommendations for the enhancement of tools, processes and procedures.
  1. Justify cost/benefit of simulation through financial analysis.
  2. Develop advanced engineering analysis capabilities.
  3. Evaluate hardware and software in terms of gaining accuracy, productivity, and capacity.
  4. Develop and maintain strong relationships with manufacturing:  participate in prototype runs and seek advice from processing experts.

KEY MEASURES & FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY

 

  • On time delivery of product development simulations. Directly contributes to minimize costly redevelopment due to failed trials / tests.

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

 

Personal Background

  • Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Mechanical, Aerospace or Material Engineering.
  • 1-2 years of experience with numerical simulation analysis.
  • Legally able to work in the U.S. without requirement of any type of visa sponsorship/transfer both now and in the future

 

Job Technical skills

  • Previous experience using numerical simulation tools is required.
  • Experience with Hyperworks and/or Abaqus is required.
  • Experience with Simlab, Optistruct, Fluent, and/or Blowview is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with SpaceClaim, NX and/or Catia is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with mold flow analysis is a plus but not required.
  • Experience in automotive and/or a blow molding environment is preferred.

 

Job Soft skills

  • Good understanding of material properties including plastics, rubbers and metals is required.
  • Ability to correctly interpret simulation results and propose realistic solutions is required.
  • Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes like blow molding, injection molding, compression molding, and metal stamping is a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of automotive fuel and SCR systems and related components is a plus but not required.
  • At ease and effective in a matrix, multicultural and fast evolving environment.
