DIVISION Clean Energy Systems


  • The Research Coop / Intern is responsible to support research projects to meet defined objectives set for each project including cost, timing and technical requirements
  • Projects include the design, development and validation of systems related to fuel systems diesel after treatment and future clean energy storage systems
  • Driven to excel in documentation, hands on prototyping and testing
  • Work is performed in a fast paced environment within tight time constraints
  • Unusual hours and travel may be required
  • This is an hourly position


  • Identify areas for research and advanced product or process development
  • Participate on global research teams for new product research and development
  • Lead research project tasks from exploratory phase through technology transfer phase according to the Research INPRO project management process


  • Review technical documents (i.e. articles, patents, Government regulations, SAE recommended practices, etc.) for key information related to PO Clean Energy Systems Research and remain informed of industry events
  • Collaborate with necessary departments (i.e. development engineers, purchasing, industrial, customer centers, etc.) to insure areas of concern are addressed during design and validation of research projects
  • Collaborate with Research Control engineers in defining control functions and strategies
  • Coordinate and supervise component and system level testing
  • Communicate results of research projects to internal departments and customers as appropriate
  • Must successfully complete all PO Auto Inergy required training
  • Must comply with all work rules, policies and procedures
  • Must comply with all safety rules and regulations
  • Provide support to other positions as needed
  • Other duties as assigned


Personal Background

  • High School Diploma
  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in one of the below fields
    • Electrical Engineering (preferred)
    • Computer Science
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Must be legally able to work in the U.S. without any type of visa sponsorship now AND in the future.


Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated interest in electrical, mechatronics, system or vehicle integration
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Basic ability to navigate Internet and Intranet software packages
  • Ability to maintain working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Must be flexible, dependable and creative
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills (English required)
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations
