MISSION

  • Standardization: Interact with North American Plant Leadership and corporate Purchasing to establish a standardized approach toward deployment of supply chain related activities including component part replenishment, inventory management, customs and ERP system applications as well C-TPAT compliance and freight cost management.  
  • Execution: Responsible for supporting NAO plants in developing, defining, and meeting Supply Chain key metrics relating to customer delivery, forecast accuracy, inventory DOH, inventory accuracy,  freight cost management and supplier delivery.
  • Training:  Work with Material Managers and Plant Directors to define the structure, and roles and responsibilities required to fully support and sustain a lean manufacturing transition.  Development of training, and hands on mentorship and support, as required, ensuring demonstrated knowledge within the materials functions on the use and integration of the “Materials Management System”

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creation of supply chain metrics that support and drive lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Lead monthly metric reviews, drive root cause problem identification, corrective action and continuous improvement
  • Assist plants in the establishment of smart metric goals and drive actions to attain them
  • Training and development established for all functional roles within the materials teams
  • Work with purchasing buyers and plant logistics to establish best transportation methods and costing.

ACTIVITIES

  • Establish automated process to streamline communication flow of consumption based kanban orders to the supply base
  • Work with transportation providers to establish low cost contracts for transportation services
  • Establish/refine regional packaging standards and drive adherence to these standards.
  • Creation of supplier delivery metrics supporting a lean replenishment system and integrate into the supplier report cards
  • Teach / mentor teams in determining forecast accuracies & bias to determine true working demand as input to the MPS.
  • Support administrative value stream mapping for material’s related processes to improve efficiency and eliminate waste
  • Standardize part set up, netting logic and MRP settings to best optimize information flow within ERP
  • Focus on inventory accuracy enabling reliability and better planning information
  • Training development for the Materials Management System for each of the roles within the materials functions
  • Drive Statement of Requirements for IS&S reports required to efficiently perform supply chain functions at all levels
  • Some global interaction with other regions sharing best practices and standardization of processes
  • Manage C-TPAT process ensuring all NAO plants maintain certification status

 

PROFILE REQUIRED

Personal Background

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business (Purchasing or Supply Chain Management)
  • APIC’s certification preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct materials management experience within manufacturing
  • Minimum of 2 years in a regional or global Supply Chain or logistics Management
  • Automotive experience desired

 

Skills and Abilities

  • Hands on Lean Manufacturing implementation experience
  • Extensive experience in commercial negotiations with suppliers.
  • Able to influence and motivate people, especially in non-direct reporting relationships
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Expert level experience and knowledge in MRP systems logic and information flow
  • Hands on experience in the use of MFGPro and SAP systems within each of the materials functions a plus
  • Ability to interact effectively within all levels of the organization (hourly, management, and executive levels)
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills (English required).
  • Work requires standing, walking, bending, stooping and sitting.
  • Travel required (domestic as well as minimal overseas)
  • Must be legally able to work in the U.S. without any requirement of visa sponsorship both now and in the future.
